Axel Zajac

Electric Guitar, 8-String Guitar, Fretless guitar

At the age of 15, Axel picked up the electric guitar and spent the first two years as an autodidact until his interest met jazz music, which needed some social and educational exchange.

In 2010 Axel started his bachelor's studies for jazz guitar in Osnabrück and formed and participated during many projects and took classes and workshops with internationally successful musicians such as Vijay Iyer, Prasana, Chrisitan McBride, Carl Verheyen, Guthrie Govan, Lionel Loueke, Scott Henderson, Lee Konitz and many more.

During that time his knowledge and passion for improvised music of any variety strenghened and connections with like-minded musicians happened.

In 2015 his Band "Malstrom" made first place in the "Europäischen Burghauser Nachwuchs-Jazzpreis". The same year he finished his bachelor's degree.

In 2017 "Malstrom" made first place in the "International Getxo Jazzcompetition" and played festivals all around europe with in that group.

In 2018 "Malstrom made first place in the international "Biberacher Jazzpreis" competition.

2020 He finished the Master of Music degree in Bremen.
